The 2019 research of Trivess Moore and colleagues has shown us that the large majority of ESD designers aim for mediocrity in their projects, i.e. buildings are designed to only meet the bare regulatory minimums with no further forethought. This is troubling as Australia’s environmental requirement standards are well behind other developed nations and this attitude of minimizing capital cost at the expense of building efficiency, we believe is the wrong way of approaching design. Instead, research has shown that spending the extra effort on initial optimization during the planning stage yields far greater operational savings during a building’s lifecycle. This is where our firm excels, as our company ethos strives to build more efficient buildings rather than the cheapest and we justify this with the immediate savings seen from using novel building materials, alternative modelling solutions and new approaches to environmentally sustainable design as shown in the research literature.
At AEEC, we strive to improve Australia’s building efficiency ratings one project at a time to create a more habitable environment for us all. This means going the extra mile on projects, big and small, to seek out every last bit of optimization possible through more detailed simulations, more experienced personnel, and more project transparency to achieve our goals. AEEC provides energy star certification for buildings and homes to help them be energy-efficient. Our mission is to make Australian homes and buildings energy-efficient & certified with an energy-saving certificate. Get your home qualified for an energy efficiency certificate!
